Do you have disabled access at the zoo?

We regularly welcome wheelchair and pushchair users to the zoo. As we are a natural zoo, many of our pathways are made compressed woodchip which regular visitors with disabilities have no problem in dealing with. All of our buildings are accessible and we have ramps available should you require them. Our staff are always on hand to help!


Can we buy an annual pass or membership to the zoo?

Can I adopt an animal at the HCC?

Yes! You can adopt animals here at the zoo, for all the information you need, please click here.


What if I need to go out and come back in again?

Not a problem! Just show your receipt and your hand stamp at the gate!


Is there anywhere to store our belongings?

Unfortunately, at this time we are unable to provide anywhere for you to leave your belongings and we urge you to keep valuables on you at all times.


Is there an indoor picnic area?

We have various indoor spaces for you to enjoy your picnics.


Is smoking allowed within the HCC?

We are a non-smoking centre. For those that wish to smoke, we ask that you leave the main zoo boundary.


When are the animals fed?

We like to keep our animals on their toes so they don't expect their food at particular times. Our talk and feed programmes change regularly so please click here to check the latest!


Can I feed the animals? Is it possible to hold any of the animals?

We offer pre-booked animal experiences, many of which enable you to feed our animals. Some of our smaller animal such as our insects may be able to be held during encounters throughout the day but the availability of this is subject to staff and the suitability of the species in the encounter.
